Denver Unemployment News and Listings

Volunteering to do some good could give you a competitive edge.

Denver, Colorado is like much of the country when it comes to jobs. The unemployment rate was just below 9% in October of last year (the last month with hard figures) with 8.8% of the population without work. This is not alarming given the economic situation of the country but it is certainly not welcome news for anyone who is looking for a job.

If you found this post you might be wondering where are some good places to look for Denver jobs - and I am going to share with you a few places to keep in mind - and even an unemployment tip when the list is done. Career Builder, The Denver Post, and Craigslist are all fantastic areas to find some much needed unemployment but what can you do while you are waiting for a response?

In my personal opinion this can be a great time to volunteer for organizations around the city to beef up your resume - and if your good land a great job just by showing up. What else do you have to do? Play Xbox? With the stiff competition for open positions volunteering your time could be the difference between you and hundreds of other people. While you are getting new experience, great new networks (for potential employers or otherwise), and maybe even a little bump in self esteem - you can also do some good for people who might really need you. Give it a shot - what do you have to lose?
